I developed the graphic concept for Alexander Scull Castillo – or Scull Music for short. As a musician and professional percussionist, I wanted the energy and rhythm to be clearly conveyed through the logo font and the accompanying symbol.
I developed the graphic concept for Alexander Scull Castillo – or Scull Music for short. As a musician and professional percussionist, I wanted the energy and rhythm to be clearly conveyed through the logo font and the accompanying symbol.
The logo's design was based on a photograph of Alexander's hands while he was playing. The shape was vectorized and refined. The "vibration" of a conga was then added. The graphic hands enclose the vibration they created.
The typography of the logo was then fine-tuned. The original typeface was converted into outlines and fine-tuned. All spacing and intervals were adjusted accordingly, and appropriate ligatures were created. These ligatures for the double lowercase L and the transition between the lowercase S and the dot of the i make the logo unique and convey a sense of movement.
Even for professional musicians, it's important to maintain a network these days. For this purpose, the business cards were designed with a sophisticated aesthetic. They were printed with Pantone gold, white spot varnish, and matte foil, giving them an elegant and sophisticated look.
Of course, a website is a must these days. Therefore, a simple contact and project website was created at www.scullmusic.com. After a short logo animation upon loading the website, visitors receive more information about Alexander and his projects. Currently, he is introduced, along with his project "Tempo Habana." The website is a static site written with Next.js and hosted on GitHub Pages. It is available in three languages: English, German, and Spanish.
