"MamaSkye" is a professional doula, one could say a spiritual midwife. I was commissioned to develop a graphic concept for MamaSkye. The most important aspect was creating a logo that reflects both the breadth of the topic of birth and its connection to nature.
The name "MamaSkye," derived from "Mama" (mother) and "Skye," the largest Scottish island in the Hebrides (meaning "Island of Mist"), was already chosen for the brand. However, there was no graphic concept or communication style for MamaSkye. Therefore, I initially worked closely with them to develop a visual identity and a graphic concept. The logo design was the primary focus. Based on this, elements of mysticism, magic, and playfulness were to be consistently integrated into the brand's overall appearance.
When designing the logo, it was particularly important to represent both the modernity and the deep roots of MamaSkye's work in ancient wisdom. The aim was to create a monumental impression that nevertheless conveys the lightness and femininity of the theme. Therefore, the typeface chosen was "Lithos Pro," which is inspired by mythological ancient Greek. Starting with the bold typeface, which reflects strength and power, the individual customization of the glyphs developed both the "dreamy" and playful qualities associated with the theme of birth and the awakening of femininity.
The most important aspect of the further development was the creation of a flyer and a corresponding Instagram post. The main goal was to communicate and establish the brand's new visual language.
The website design was planned as a simple, single-page site to initially populate the domain with contact information and other relevant details. It was based on the previously designed flyer and Instagram post. MamaSyke is originally from England, but most of the workshops and services take place in Spain. Therefore, it was important to offer Spanish in addition to English and German.
